Meet Our Summer 2024 Team!

ASUS Camps prides itself each year in creating and fostering an amazing team of camp counsellors! Our staff dedicates itself to ensuring that each camper has an inclusive, accessible, and incredible experience every day at camp. Each counsellor brings something unique to the table to spark creativity and imagination in all campers! This summer, they cannot wait to pass on all of their knowledge to each camper. All ASUS Camps staff are required to have a valid Vulnerable Sector Police Check. They cannot wait for the camp fun to begin!

Hello! My name is Orli (she/her) and I am so excited to be the Director of Camp Operations this year at ASUS! As a current third year Concurrent Education student, I am passionate about creating fun, engaging, and memorable opportunities for kids. This summer I’ll be working behind the scenes to ensure camp runs smoothly and everyone has a blast! We are so excited to see you soon!

My name is Sophia, and I am the English Director for ASUS Camps this summer :) I am entering my fourth year at Queen’s University and my ultimate goal is to become an elementary school teacher. Fond memories of my own camp experiences have inspired me to create a similar environment of enjoyment and learning. Our amazing team of directors and counsellors are very excited to bring fun and engaging activities that will create unforgettable memories for all the campers!

Aarchi Shah

Hello! I am Aarchi and I use she/her pronouns. I am currently a second-year student majoring in physics and minoring in mathematics! I am super enthusiastic about working with the ASUS camp this summer. I cannot wait to meet the campers and embark on the fun expedition together :)

 
 

Alexia Platt

I am going into my third year of Con-Ed, and I hope to be an elementary school teacher once I graduate! I am a history major, and I am getting a minor in Black studies. I love running, hiking, reading, and listening to music. My favourite summer camp activities are sports, games and crafts!

 

Alexis Bruno-McKinney

Hi! My name is Alexis Bruno-McKinney, and I am a counsellor with ASUS Camps for the summer of 2023!

I enjoy nature, gardening, and creating miniature sculptures in my free time. The summer season has always been the source of fond memories growing up, and I hope to create happy memories with the campers this summer!

Hi! My name is Claire, and I am one of your French Counsellors for this summer! In the fall I will begin my degree of Education to teach French. Some of the things that I love to do are staying active and playing music! I am super excited for this summer at the ASUS camps with all of you and can’t wait to make it the best summer ever!

Bonjour tout le monde! My name is Jana, and I use she/her pronouns. I am so excited to join the ASUS camp this year as a French/English Counsellor! I am a Concurrent Education student in the primary-junior teaching division. My passion for teaching has grown throughout my experience within the program, so now I look forward to learning and creating new memories at this camp! In my free time, I love to spend time with friends and family, watch movies, and do escape rooms!

Hi all! My name is Jo and I use she/her pronouns. I just completed my second year in the Concurrent Education program and am happy to be one of the camp counsellors for this summer. I'm thrilled to meet all the students and to create memorable experiences together. My goals for the summer are, to continue study Korean, explore Kingston, and to make more bubble tea! :)

Hi! My name is Jonas and I am so excited to be a camp councillor! I am going into my 3rd year of Drama and Film and love being involved in theatre; a fun fact about me is that I produced, directed, and wrote my own Christmas play called Garby’s Magical Adventure! I am so excited to work with all of these people and our campers to make this summer as fun as possible!

 

Kendra Johnston

Hi! My name is Kendra Johnston and I’m excited to be your counsellor! I am a Concurrent Education student with a major in Drama and a minor in English. Most of my time is spent working backstage for plays. In my free time I like to sing, dance, and have an all-around good time! I love working with children of all ages, so I am so excited to be a camp councillor this summer!

 

Nikki Sodhi

Hi! My name is Nikki and I use they/them pronouns. I'm so excited to join the ASUS Camps as a counsellor this year! I am a second-year Concurrent Education student studying biochemistry and music. I strive to bring a bit of excitement, brightness, and happiness to my campers' lives every single day, and I hope they leave with fond memories and the tools for further growth.

 

Rowan Meng

Hey there! I’m Rowan, a Queen’s Concurrent Education student majoring in French and minoring in English. In my free time, I enjoy playing ukulele, taking walks in nature, doing crafts, reading, and journaling. As a future educator, I’m interested in second language teaching as well as special education – making sure students of all different needs are able to flourish and find joy in the classroom. This summer, I’m looking forward to all the new adventures that I will share with our campers!
